Neoclassic’s Lisistrata Has Been Fully Funded

It’s not everyday that I celebrate the end of a Kickstarter, but I think this one deserves it. Not because I’m their biggest fan, but because of what they’re bringing to table with their catalog.

Neoclassic Games is an Italian developer with a focus on, as the name suggests, classic works of fiction. Their debut title, Elisa the Innkeeper, had roots in Italian folklore and culture. Their next big project, Lisistrata is an adaptation of the classic Greek comedy Lysistrata by Aristophanes. The basic premise you’ve probably heard of: a group of Greek women, tired of theirs husbands leaving them to fight the Peloponnesian War on behalf of Athens and potentially die, lock themselves in Athenian acropolis and refuse to have sex with their husbands and lovers until they call a truce with Sparta.

Neoclassic has re-imagined this story as a RPG/Visual Novel Hybrid. Not only will you (the player) have to manage the affairs at the acropolis, ensuring that everyone is at ease with the larger plan and, most importantly, protecting the inhabitants from the blue-balled men caught between civic duty and getting laid. It is a far cry from the ‘sexual comedy’ it was originally, and hopefully some of that humor will stay.
