Robotics;Notes Is Coming To The West

So, do you dig giant robots? I know I dig giant robots and I have it on good authority that chicks also dig giant robots. Hopefully, we all dig giant robots because we’re about to get a few more in the arsenal of freedom.

During the Game Developers Conference this year, Spike Chunsoft’s CEO Mitsuotoshi Sakurai told the gaming site Siliconera that the visual novel Robotics;Notes will be localized to the West. We do not currently have a release window, but we do know a few things. First, the sequel for this game, Robotics;Notes DaSH, will also be released sometime this year. The localization of the sequel of Steins;Gate, Steins;Gate Elite, is also on the way this year. So it’s going to be very busy at the Spike Chunsoft HQ as these titles come in.

But what is Robotics;Notes?

Robotics;Notes is one part of a trilogy of visual novels by the developer 5pb: the other two being Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head. The entire trilogy has enjoyed a very successful run, not only garnering various sequels and expansions, but also manga and anime adaptations over the series’ near ten year run. It’ll be interesting to see if Robotics;Notes sees the same acclaim that Steins;Gate got in the West, but that will be speculation best saved for when we get a proper release date. For now, here’s a synopsis from VNDB:

2019, Divergence Ratio 1.048596.

The near future, where a device popularly called the PokeCom, packaged with PhoneDroid OS, spreads, bringing the Augmented Reality world close to existence. Chuuoutanegashima High School’s Robot Research Club is in danger of losing its club status. Yashio Kaito, one of only two members, is only obsessed with robot fighting games, showing no interest in the Robo Club even in this situation. The reckless, useless club head, Senomiya Akiho, aims to complete a giant robot, struggling hard to avoid losing the club’s status.

Then, one day, Kaito discovers the A.R. annotation that becomes the Kimijima Report.

Written in that report is the indictment of someone named Kimijima Kou’s conspiracy involving the world.

I’ve been having issues with the Siliconera article all day, but we will link regardless and hopefully it’ll work for you guys. JP3: OUT!
