Ten Years of VNs Now Special Feature: Fifty EVNs JP Recommends (29-11)
24. Basiliska (Carrogath)
I feel that this one is one of this forgotten gems you save to bring out on a rainy day. However, Basiliska remains a must-play strictly for the relationship between Cecily and Thea. The larger world is very interesting just from the small bits we get sewn in throughout the game. But the heart of this game is in the snarky, awkward banter between two women who slowly but surely adjust to having someone around not immediately put off by their bark. There is a snap to the dialogue of the game that is made to be read aloud and it does more to flesh out who these two are than any in-depth, dark and brooding backstory could. And while the story is fairly dark when you get some of the larger context, inevitably you will find yourself hoping these two get out of their own heads and just admit they don’t mind each other’s company.
