37. The Great Palermo (We Are Muesli)
We Are Muesli are still applying their craft these days in different mediums of art, but it is worth noting they were among the first to use visual novels as a platform for more experimental artist projects. They were also among the first to tap into cultural grants in local and provincial governments for their projects. We would see this trend continue with Necrobarista and others, but for me nothing quite tops the surrealist beauty of The Great Palermo. It’s a simply enough tale as you explore the city of Palermo, Sicily and discover the deep history of not only different areas of the city, but mostly the food. It does its job masterfully as if I’m ever near Italy, I want to go see Palermo myself. However, hopefully I don’t transform into a mid 20th century tifosi along the way.
