Ten Years of VNs Now Special Feature: Fifty EVNs JP Recommends (50-30)
48. Analogue: A Hate Story (Love Conquers All)
Christine Love’s catalogue has become rather Ozymandian over the years. But, even though this may finally be the year I air my regrets with some of them (yes Cerise, I’m talking about Hate Plus) Analogue has stood alone as a solid title. The atmosphere and world building are still top notch, the characters are complex and hold your interest long after the game is over and despite her turn into a nauseating, self-absorbed otaku, here Hyun-ae serves as a desperate victim of circumstances fated with suffering punishment for her genocidal actions and *Mute balances Hyun-ae perfectly as a literal relic of a bygone era. 2012 won’t be repeated and we shouldn’t put nostalgia too high on the shelf. But of everything great that happened that year with EVNs, Analogue still stands out as a special highlight.
