Welcome to 2018 folks!
2017 was a strong year for the visual novel genre and we saw some great entries, along with some very popular ones that helped move the medium forward. We also got some trash, but that is to be expected in any good year. But that was 2017: the books on that are pretty much closed save for the backlog of reviews that have to be taken care of. The time has come to look forward to the future: to a new year and a generation of developers with the tools and the ambitions to launch themselves from K2 to a higher height.
2018 is set up to be a fantastic year for visual novels: both financially and in the popular eye. There has already been movement on some stalled projects both in the states and abroad, we’ve got a few announcements on new projects that we expect to hear more news about and, hopefully, we’ll see a few titles launched that have been in production for some time now. As usual, we cannot say for sure that these games WILL launch in 2018: that’s just the nature of game development. However, of the multitude of visual novels in production with a slated release windows this year, these are the ten I’m most looking forward to seeing come to us.
