Watch the First 37 Minutes of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

After finishing my Let’s Play on Ash of Gods: Redemption, I’ve been hungering for a new, old-school RPG. As usual, the good folks at CD Projekt Red have my back with the upcoming Thronebreaker: a very ambitious 2D role-playing game with a strong visual and audio presentation, battle mechanics that are similar to The Witcher card game Gwent, and an in-depth overall map system with both main and side quests. The story features the familiar dark fantasy strengths this developer usually brings to the table, but using familiar visual novel mechanics that we have seen before. CD Projekt Red has stated the game will features over thirty hours of gameplay and have released thirty minutes of gameplay from Thronebreaker to get us ready for it.

From what I’ve seen so far, this could be a dark horse for Game of the Year: not just for this site, but for the gaming industry entirely, and I look forward to seeing what my fellow gaming bloggers, like flashbackcomicsandgames.com, make of it – I know I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I encourage everyone to take the time to watch the gameplay trailer and then look into Thronebreaker. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales releases on October 23rd on PC via GOG.COM. A console release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will follow on December 4th. Pre-orders for the game are available on the official website – witchertales.com.

About Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

Thronebreaker is a single player role-playing game set in the world of The Witcher that combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and card battle mechanics. Crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms – Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath, and set out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge. Throughout the game, players will explore new and never-before-seen parts of The Witcher world, embark on thought-provoking quests featuring rich, multidimensional characters. All while gathering resources to expand their army and engaging in epic story battles.
