13. Autumn’s Journey (Apple Cider Games)

Autumn’s Journey is a much more grounded gamer than presented. Yes on the surface there is the warm and awesome friendship between the Protagonist Auralee and two legitimate dragons Kerr and Ilmari and their time travelling the realms of man. But as sweet as their journey is, it’s also a tale about how you can react to the greater world. I’ve often referenced and held up stories where the reality of how sinister the world can be and how it forces people to get a bit darker in response (or much darker depending). Autumn’s Journey takes the exact opposite approach as the heroes begin to learn more. It leads to interesting confrontations, revelations and the mother of all sequel hooks. AJ2 maybe one day, but for now this is still a must play.
