28. Serafina’s Crown (Woodsy Games)

This is probably the only entry I’ve gone back and forth on in terms of placement, but ultimately The List would be lacking without Serafina’s Crown. Yet another piece of evidence that sequels can easily top their predecessors, Crown dials up the already colorful cast to about 67: ramping up their personalities to a level of flamboyancy reserved for a Broadway musical. BUT, I’d be damned if it didn’t work. The story is very fun, the characters are amazing to watch bounce off each other and the mini-games even work out well. Especially considering the high bar I set for anything with political intrigue, its debate and voting mechanics are surprisingly solid. it does a decent job and its romances are hormonally-driven romps that can only be driven by young people of a certain class. I normally don’t recommend ‘fun’ in the traditional sense, but this one is definitely fun. Check it out.
