26. Romance Detective (Nami)
Well this is some fun, ridiculous nonsense. Romance Detective rips the brakes off their comedy and pushes the engine as fast at it can, hitting every obvious pun and joke it possibly can before hurling itself Thelma and Louise-style over a bridge that is properly functioning. Ultimately, that is was sells this one for me. The characters aren’t deep and the storyline is not predictable, but like any great stand-up each joke feeds into the next; chaining into one another to keep the laughs going. And the pairing of Romance Cop and Romance Detective, built over this chain of deadpan snark and dead-serious devotion to duty, still manages to be sweet and meshes well with the overall fun of the title. Plus it takes less than an hour, which is rare these days.
